Consortium Cybersar: expertise in supercomputing and applied research. A big computing infrastructure to serve future net and future learning. Cybersar is a consortium for supercomputing, computational modeling and management of large database whose members are Italian universities, Research Centers and private enterprises. The consortium embraces many important expertise in several fields of applied research as computational pharmaceutics, physics, artificial intelligence ad pattern recognition, computational chemistry, astrophysics, biomedicine, electronic and mechanical engineering simulation field. All activities revolve around the cyber-infrastructure made by the consortium. The Cybersar Consortium handles an aggregate computing power made of 2000 computing core and 200 TB of storage, organized in high-performance computing centres placed in Sardinia (Italy) and in particular in Cagliari, Capoterra (CA), Pula (CA), Porto Conte (SS) e Monserrato (CA), and linked together trough a dedicated high speed fiber optic network. The Consortium assets are entered in the Italian Grid Infrastructure IGI (http://www.italiangrid.org) and in the European grid. Computing hours and storage through GRID and HPC services are used to solve computing problems questioned by scientific and technological research, and to give technological support to high educational activities. Our target customer are enterprises, enterprise research centers, scientific research centers, banks, data bank, automotive field, pharmaceutics field as per aerospace field. We ensure testing and research activities, improvement of technological level of the infrastructures and associated management duties. EXPERTISE: Cybersar is a consortium for supercomputing, computational modeling and management of large database, which collects together expertise of its members: University of Cagliari (Italy) University of Sassari (Italy) National Institute of Astrophysics (Italy) National Institute of Nuclear Physics (Italy) CRS4 (Italy) Tiscali Italia Srl (Italy) Nice Srl (Italy) |

The analysis of complex structures formed by infinite periodic surfaces, with a particular interest in artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) applications, has taken advantage of a code we developed in Fortran that allows to deal with multiple metallic layers with losses and finite width, using our previously developed approach. In order to study standard microstrip antennas on an AMC groundplane we modified the full-wave analysis of a standard microstrip antenna using for the AMC case a simplified Green function, that we already validated. Results are promising both from a computational point of view and in terms of performance. We need only a couple of generations to reach the desired resonant frequency and the geometries are simple, even though not obvious compared to the ones found in literature. |
